ACCA Diploma in Accounting & Business

The Diploma in Accounting and Business Qualification is part of the ACCA Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) Suite of Awards. It is suitable for anyone looking to do an introductory qualification in accounting and finance.

No previous academic or accountancy qualifications are required however some basic understanding of accounting principles and/or some experience in an accounting environment is desirable. The course is equivalent to the first year of a degree.

  • Trainee accountant in a commercial organisation or accounting practice

  • Accounts clerk in the public sector

Course Content & Exams

  • The Diploma in Accounting & Business Course consists of three papers/exams

                             Accountant in Business (FAB)
                             Management Accounting (FMA)
                             Financial Accounting (FFA) 

Students must also complete a professionalism and ethics module called Foundations in Professionalism. It can be completed on the ACCA website at any stage throughout the course. No fee applies

Course Duration

  • One year approximately (including tuition and exams)

  • Evening course

  • September to January: 2 evenings a week

  • January to April: 2 evenings a week

  • Sit Computer Based Exams     


  • The Diploma in Accounting and Business modules equate to the first 3 papers of the ACCA Professional. 
  • After completing the Diploma in Accounting and Business you can transfer to the ACCA Professional course and start at Paper 4 - Corporate and Business Law.

ACCA Registration

All students must register directly with the ACCA for membership as a FIA student (Foundation in Accountancy).
