Abrasive Wheel Course

Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Applications) Amendment Regulations 2016 (S.I. No.36 of 2016)

 

Abrasive wheels training is legally required for everyone involved in the purchase and selection, storage and handling, mounting, dressing and use of abrasive wheels. This includes all types of abrasive wheels either fixed (e.g. Bench grinders or polishers) or portable (e.g. angle grinders).


Course Aim


This course is suitable for those with a responsibility for the installation, operation and maintenance of abrasive wheels in accordance with the relevant regulations.

 

The course is highly participative with the emphasis on the practical element of training.

 

Note:

This course is specific to tools associated with abrasive wheels and not the safe use of power tools in general.

·        British Standard Marking System

·        Wheel Structure

·        Storage and Handling/Transportation

·        Testing of Wheels

·        Mounting and Balancing

·        Wheel dressing

·        Guards

·        Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

·        Practical assessments



Certification

A candidate must pass a short theory test and a practical test.

 

Participants receive a Certificate of Attendance on completion of the assessments.
